Red Stylo Press has announced that it will be release a new comics anthology, “Baroque Pop,” that will feature a collection of stories inspired by the music of Lana Del Rey. The anthology will be produced by Red Stylo contributor Mario Candelaria, and is slated to debut at C2E2 in April.
In 2015, Red Stylo released another music-themed anthology titled “Angel with a Bullet,” which was inspired by the music of Tom Waits.
While the book has been completed, Red Stylo Press has also started a Kickstarter campaign in order to raise money for a print run. As of Thursday, the Kickstarter campaign has $1,721 pledged of its $4,000 goal.
The Kickstarter tiers offer digital downloads of the comic as well as physical copies, exclusive covers, a set of prints, and a custom digital portrait by artist Katarzyna Witerscheim for people who donate $70 or more.
“‘Baroque Pop’ is both an homage to Lana as well as a testament to the imagery and symbolism this modern day muse draws out of artists and writers,” reads the description on the Kickstarter page. “Her melodies invoke a sense of longing and wonder and endless hope.”
The book will feature seven comic stories by Chuck Harrison and Luke Marrone, Daniel Charles and Ashley St. Lawrence with Scott Ewen, Jennie Wood and Chris Goodwin, Enrica Jang and Jan Velazquez, Mario Candelaria and Katarzyna Witerscheim, Michael Lynch and Mira Mortal, and Eric Palicki and Daniel Earls.
There will be five portraits in the book as well with art from Jim Towe, Adam Ferris (feat. Lesley Atlansky), John Keaveney, Hoyt Silva, and Fabian Lelay (feat. Lesley Atlansky).
