Amid its flurry of Comic-Con International exclusive, Entertainment Weekly has debuted a new image of Kurt Russell and Samuel L. Jackson in Quentin Tarantino's "The Hateful Eight."

The director promises the film, which finds a group of bounty hunters taking shelter from a blizzard at way station in post-Civil War Wyoming, is a world away from "Django Unchained," and a departure from other Westerns.

“I can definitely say that as bleak as our movie is, we are definitely the funniest snow Western ever made,” he said. “This is funnier than 'The Great Silence,' it’s funnier than 'Day of the Outlaw.'”

Tarantino is bringing a first look at "The Hateful Eight" to Hall H on Saturday, July 11, along with at least some of the ensemble cast.

Opening Dec. 25 in 70mm ahead of a Jan. 8 wide release, the film also stars Jennifer Jason Leigh, Bruce Dern, Michael Madsen, Walton Goggins and Tim Roth.
