Welcome to "Krypton," Georgina Campbell! According to Deadline, the "After Hours" has signed on to play Lyta Zod in the upcoming Syfy series, which follows Superman's grandfather Seg-El.

According to the character's description,

Campbell's Lyta Zod is a member of Krypton’s military caste and the daughter of a general -- that would be Superman’s future nemesis, General Zod, Lyta Zod serves as a cadet -- and has also been having a clandestine, forbidden romance with Seg-El.

In previous reports, she has been described as a "twentysomething beauty and a reluctant warrior."

Seg-El has not yet been cast, but he will be an "athletic, quietly confident" man in his 20s. He appeared in 1999’s “Starman” #51 -- an issue that was co-written by “Krypton” executive producer David S. Goyer. More of Superman’s ancestors will be included in the show: Seg-El’s father Ter-El and Seg-El’s grandfather Val-El. Val-El is described as having “defied death by going into the Phantom Zone” and also believes in exploring space.

Set two generations before the planet’s destruction, the project centers on the Man of Steel’s grandfather, whose House of El was ostracized, as he fights to redeem his family’s honor and save his world from chaos. “Krypton” has been in development since at least late 2014.

The sci-fi drama from David S. Goyer centers on Superman’s grandfather. Goyer, who wrote the pilot with Ian Goldberg, is set to executive produce. Hailing from Warner Horizon Television, the “Krypton” pilot will be directed and co-executive produced by Colm McCarthy (“Peaky Blinders”). “Sleepy Hollow” veteran Damian Kindler will serve as showrunner.
