Syfy's upcoming pilot for the DC Comics-based "Krypton" has reportedly cast relatively unknown actor Cameron Cuffe as its lead character (and Superman's grandfather), Seg-El. Cuffe joins the already-cast Georgina Campbell, who's set to play Seg-El's wife, Lyta Zod.

According to Deadline, Seg-El in the series is "the scion of the once prosperous El family and is blessed with an intuitive brilliance for all things technical; he is now living in Krypton’s lowest caste after his family was stripped of its rank."

Set two generations before the destruction of the titular planet, "Krypton" follows the young Seg-El "as he fights to redeem his family’s honor and save his beloved world from chaos."

Executive produced by David S. Goyer and showrunner Damian Kindler, and written by Goyer & Ian Goldberg, "Krypton" is currently in the pilot stage at Syfy, a subsidiary of NBCUniversal.
