Kristen Stewart Passes On Lois

Those of us alarmed by rumors naming Kristen Stewart among the candidates to play Lois Lane in the Warner Bros. Superman reboot can rest easy: She apparently won’t be the Man of Steel’s love interest.

Citing “a source close to Zack Snyder,” the New York Daily News reports the Twilight star recently met with the director and wife-producer Deborah Snyder, but “ultimately passed” on the role. The 20-year-old actress, still reeling from from the success of the Twilight franchise, is said to be looking for smaller, independent projects.

Although Snyder didn’t offer Stewart the role, the newspaper’s source says he expressed “definite” interest in her, and was left feeling “slighted.” Her spokeswoman only said that Stewart “did not read for the part,” but declined to elaborate.

But just as one name is removed from the list of rumored contenders, two more emerge: Black Swan co-star Mila Kunis, and TRON: Legacy and House actress Olivia Wilde, whom Latino Review contends has already read for the role.

Snyder’s Superman reboot, thought to be called Man of Steel, is written by David S. Goyer from a story by Goyer and producer Christopher Nolan. Charles Rovan, Emma Thomas and Deborah Snyder also are producing. Thomas Tull and Lloyd Phillips are executive producers. It’s set for a December 2012 release.
