Chloe Sevigny and Kristen Stewart will star in a psychological thriller about Lizzie Borden and the grisly 1892 murders that were memorialized as a children's rhyme.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Pieter Van Hees ("Waste Land") will direct the film, with Sevigny starring as Lizzie, who was tried and acquitted in the gruesome deaths of her father and stepmother. Stewart is in negotiations to play Bridget Sullivan, the Bordens' live-in maid who testified about family tensions and may have been home when the murders occurred.

The story of Lizzie Borden has been adapted many time for film and television, most recently as a Lifetime TV movie and subsequent miniseries starring Christina Ricci.

Bryce Kass will write the screenplay.
