Following in the footsteps of its "Attack on Titan" anthology, Kodansha has revealed plans similar title inspired by Shirow Masamune's "Ghost in the Shell" that features original stories by Western creators.

Announced this weekend at Emerald City Comicon in Seattle, "The Ghost in the Shell: International Neural Network" is targeted for release in spring 2018 as a full-color single-volume hardcover. The book will be overseen by former Marvel editor Alejandro Arbona in collaboration with Kodansha's Ben Applegate. The publisher promises an "all-star cast of Western comics creators," but has yet to divulge the names of those involved.

The announcement arrives as the marketing gears up for the March 31 release of the live-action adaptation of "Ghost in the Shell" starring Scarlett Johansson.

An imprint of the North American subsidiary of Japanese publishing giant Kodansha Ltd., Kodansha Comics has begun releasing deluxe editions of "Ghost in the Shell," with each hardcover volume of the cyberpunk saga featuring bonus content and supervised by Masamune himself.

Directed by Rupert Sanders (“Snow White and the Hunstman”), “Ghost in the Shell”stars Scarlett Johansson, Daisuke Aramaki, Juliette Binoche, Michael Pitt, Pilou Asbæk and Kaori Momoi.
