Robert Kirkman and David Alpert's Skybound Entertainment is expanding with a new Skybound North office in Vancouver, Canada. Catherine Winder, formerly an executive and producer at LucasFilm Animation, will head up the new office. Winder previously worked on projects like "Star Wars: The Clone Wars", the "Angry Birds" movie, and the "Æon Flux" TV series.

According to Deadline, one of Skybound North's first projects will be the recently announced comic book documentary series, "Heroes and Villains: The History of Comic Books." The six-episode series will explore the history of the comic book medium and air on AMC in 2017.

Though Skybound is based in Los Angeles, this is not the company's first foray into Vancouver. Part of the first season of "Fear the Walking Dead" was filmed there, though the third season will not be. The city also provides filming locations for other genre shows like The CW's "Arrow," "The Flash," and "DC’s Legends of Tomorrow," as well as the BBCAmerica series "Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency," on which Alpert was an executive producer.

Talent also drew Skybound to Vancouver. “There is a vast pool of top notch Canadian talent and nobody knows the landscape better than Catherine [Winder]," said Kirkman, Alpert and business partner Jon Goldman in a joint statement, "We look forward to what’s ahead with Catherine at the helm of Skybound North.”
