Kiefer Sutherland has signed a deal to return to television in Touch, a Fox drama pilot from Heroes creator Tim Kring, TVLine reports.

As we noted on Friday, the Emmy Award-winning star of 24 will play a father who discovers that his mute, autistic son can predict events before they happen. Charles McDougall, who helmed the pilots for CBS’s The Good Wife and Fox’s new series The Chicago Code, is in talks to direct.

Touch is Kring's first pilot script since the superhero drama Heroes debuted on NBC in 2006. The new project is co-produced by 20th Century Fox Television and Chernin Entertainment, with Kring and Chernin’s Katherine Pope and Peter Chernin executive producing.

According to TVLine, Touch will begin production in late May or early June, after Sutherland fulfills his commitment to the Broadway revival of That Championship Season. The play's limited engagement concludes on May 29.
