You can't keep a good duck down, it seems. Despite the critical divide surrounding his 1986 solo film, the cartoonish canard Howard the Duck has gone on to make cameo appearances in both "Guardians of the Galaxy" films. And, according to Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige, his appearances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe may not end there.

ScreenRant reports that, when he was asked about the character's future at a recent "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2" press junket, Feige said, “You know, the fun thing about Howard is he shows up where you least expect him, so like who knows where he’s going to appear next?”

Where indeed? The forthcoming "Avengers: Infinity War" already boasts a cast that includes pretty much every hero we've seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to date. Would there really be room among all those characters for a further Howard cameo? Or is there a possibility that Howard might get another leading role and eventually join the Guardians themselves? After all, they already have at least one anthropomorphic animal character on the team in the form of Rocket Racoon -- two if you also count the plant-based Groot. Could Howard make it three?

Written and directed by James Gunn, “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Bradley Cooper, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, and franchise newcomer, Kurt Russell, who plays Star-Lord’s father Ego, the Living Planet. “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” arrives in theaters May 5.
