Keanu Reeves revealed in 2011 that a script was in the works for a third Bill & Ted movie that would have direct connections to 1991’s Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey. For fans of the sci-fi comedy franchise, the excitement was relatively short-lived, as development soon seemed to stall. Fast forward six years, past periodic script updates from Reeves and co-star Alex Winter, to today, when we learn the screenplay is finally ready -- just as studios appear to have lost interest in the sequel.

On hand Thursday at New York Comic Con to debut the first footage from his upcoming sci-fi thriller Replicas, Reeves revealed the script for Bill & Ted 3 is "out there," and that the film even has a title. So, why hasn't it received the greenlight? While the actor may be to move forward with the project, Hollywood apparently isn't.

"It's called Bill & Ted Face the Music. We're just trying to get it made," Reeves said. "Show business is tough. It's a cautionary tale."

According to the actor, the film would focus on the beloved duo, who are supposed to have saved the world by writing a song, something they've yet to actually do. As they grow older and have families, they're forced to face the music.

When the project was announced, Ed Solomon and Chris Matheson were said to be writing the script for Galaxy Quest and RED 2 director Dean Parisot. While the last update had Solomon and Matheson still as writers, no director is attached.
