Despite the Thor sequel having "dark" in the title, a new bit of casting noise points to at least a little lightness in the Marvel film. According to Deadline, Kat Dennings will reprise her role as Darcy Lewis, who delivered some comedy relief in the 2011 blockbuster as lab assistant of Natalie Portman's Jane Foster and Stellan Skarsgard's Dr. Erik Selvig.

No details have been revealed about what's expected to be an expanded role for the actress. Dennings had already appeared in such films as The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Charlie Bartlett and Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist by the time of Thor's release, but now she's the star of the hit CBS sitcom 2 Broke Girls. Don't be surprised if director Alan Taylor turns to Dennings to lighten the mood of a film that supposedly features Thor and company fighting off Dark Elves and the evil Malekith.

Thor: The Dark World, which opens Nov. 8, 2013, stars Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, Idris Elba, Zachary Levi, and possibly Christopher Eccleston as Malekith.
