Dredd star Karl Urban has revealed he's in talks to reprise the titular role for the in-development live-action TV series Judge Dredd: Mega-City One.

"I am in discussions with them about that." Urban said at a panel during Star Trek Las Vegas last weekend (via TrekMovie). "I told them that if they write the material and give Dredd something to do and give him a function, I will be there. I would love to."

Dredd, based on Judge Dredd's adventures in the 2000 AD comics, was a box office bomb. Despite its commercial failure, the film has become a cult-favorite, spurring fans to relentlessly call upon Urban to take on the role once more. Despite fans unsuccessfully campaigning for Netflix and Amazon Prime to pick up a Dredd series, independent studio IM Global are developing the live-action show called Judge Dredd: Mega-City One.

Producer Jason Kingsley previously teased the tone and scope of the series, saying, “Dark fantasy elements are one area that would be great to explore. The show will combine the macabre with the insane and the lighthearted. It’s a big place, after all, with 400 million stories to tell.”
