Doctor Who alum Karen Gillan, who made her mark in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Nebula in Guardians of the Galaxy, would love a shot at certain iconic DC Comics villain.

While appearing over the weekend in Ft. Lauderdale at Florida Supercon, Gillan was asked whether there were any roles she'd like to play outside the MCU. To the audience's surprise she chose Batman's arch-nemesis, the Joker.

"Oh, can I say something DC?" Gillan said. "OK, I’m going to say something DC, and I’m going to play the Joker. Maybe a female Joker." After being made aware that Martha Wayne was the Joker in DC's Flashpoint event, the actress became excited. "This is my calling!" Gillan exclaimed. "Somebody make a call for me and let them know I’m available."

Her comments are made even more interesting by Warner Bros. announcement last month that its Flash film has been retitled Flashpoint. The Walking Dead star Lauren Cohan appeared as Martha Wayne in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but that certainly doesn't rule out Gillan.

Gillan, who last appeared as Nebula in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, returns to the role next year in Avengers: Infinity War. Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, the Marvel Studios film stars Robert Downey Jr., Josh Brolin, Mark Ruffalo, Tom Hiddleston, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Olsen, Sebastian Stan, Benedict Cumberbatch, Paul Bettany, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Benedict Wong, Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan, Vin Diesel, Dave Bautista, Pom Klementieff, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Holland and Anthony Mackie. Avengers: Infinity War arrives May 4, 2018.
