While Kang and his various multiversal variants have recently entered the spotlight thanks to Disney+'s Loki, he's far from the only Marvel character who's gone to war with his past. And even though Kang is usually an Avengers-level threat, Moon Knight teamed up with his predecessors to take the time-conqueror down. Marc Spector was saved by the Egyptian moon god Khonshu who claimed to be Spector's progenitor before granting him amazing moon powers. Spector was not the only person given powers by Khonshu, but he met quite a few of Khonshu's other servants while trying to save all of reality from Kang the Conqueror.

As part of 2019's "Acts of Evil" event, Moon Knight Annual #1 by Cullen Bunn, Ibrahim Moustafa, Matt Horak, Mike Spicer and Joe Sabino saw Kang travel back to 2500 BC in search of the magical totems of Khonshu. The Scarab, Ankh and Scepter allowed its wielder to travel through time and even control it. As Kang laid claim to the artifacts, he was transported outside the timestream where he was confronted by Khonshu. Kang was distracted long enough for Khonshu to teleport the totems to his avatars throughout various instances of time.

Cowboy Moon Knight vs Kang

Moon Knight found himself in the present day in a reality that was completely ruled by Kang. Spector was tasked by Khonshu with restoring reality to its rightful state. He was informed that he could travel between time rifts since he was the avatar of Khonshu. He began his hunt for the totems and was transported to the Wild West where he stumbled upon a cowboy version of Moon Knight fighting off Kang. The cowboy had been entrusted with the Ankh, but Kang proved to be too powerful for him and Spector together.

He then traveled to Nazi Germany where he found the Scarab and an American soldier version of himself. The Scarab gave Spector the ability to travel through time where he began his hunt for the Scepter. He saw many different Moon Knights on his adventure through time including a Roman gladiator, an American revolutionist and a pirate during the early 1700s. Spector finally found the Scepter in 4000 BCE Mesopotamia with the very first Khonshu avatar, who had fashioned herself a set of Wolverine-esque claws out of bone to protect the Scepter.

Here, Moon Knight summoned the versions of himself that he stumbled across on his journey to fight Kang in Mesopotamia. They proved successful and with the power of the totems, Moon Knight banished Kang outside the timestream frozen in time. In an effort to protect the timestream and reality, the very first Khonshu avatar was also banished outside the timestream with the totems.

Moon Knight Variants vs Kang

This story genuinely saw an epic confrontation between two characters with various different identities or variants of themselves. Through Kang's extensive abuse of time, he has appeared as variants a multitude of times. Kang's first appearance actually came as one of his variants in Fantastic Four #19 by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, Dick Ayers, Stan Goldberg, and Sam Rosen. He appeared as Rama-Tut so he could capture the Fantastic Four and try to make Sue Storm his queen. He would not appear as Kang until almost a year later in The Avengers #8. Since then, Kang has appeared in various different forms including Immortus and the Scarlet Centurion.

While Moon Knight does time travel on occasion, he is not the experienced time-traveler that Kang is. More often than not, the various versions of Moon Knight appear to be different people that were granted the same powers that Marc Spector received. Though some of the variants that Spector came across had similar-looking costumes as him, they did not have a similar voice whatsoever. The very first Moon Knight was a black woman which definitely makes the other Moon Knights seem like separate entities from Marc Spector.

Still, this moment is arguably Moon Knight's greatest victory. Spector does not usually find himself facing off against such a powerful foe. He's usually facing off against enemies that don't necessarily threaten the fabric of time like Raoul Bushman or Taskmaster. With Moon Knight and Kang both coming to the MCU, this story could potentially be brought to life. If anything else, it would prove just how threatening Kang can be while exploring Moon Knight's powers even deeper.
