The Fast and the Furious franchise mainstay Justin Lin is in talks to direct at least the first two episodes of True Detective's second season, Deadline reports. HBO declined comment.

Cary Fukunaga helmed all eight episodes of the acclaimed crime drama's first season, earning an Emmy for outstanding directing.

Creator Nic Pizzolatto will return to write the second season, which he has said will be set in California, but not Los Angeles. He has also indicated it fill focus on “hard women, bad men and the secret occult history of the United States transportation system.”

Beyond that, there are unconfirmed reports that Colin Ferrell, Taylor Kitsch and Vince Vaughn are in place to star, with the search under way for the female lead. Variety contends Elizabeth Moss and Rachel McAdams are among the contenders.
