The Justice League's new era begins next month, with Robert Venditti taking the reins as the comic book series' new writer -- and, by the looks of it, his run will hit the ground running.

DC Comics released a preview of Justice League #41, Venditti's sophomore issue on the title. The team faces a new, genetically engineered ensemble of villains led by longtime Superman frenemy the Eradicator, who is capable of bringing even the team's heaviest hitters to their knees. Bryan Hitch's cover and some unlettered preview pages by Aaron Lopresti, Matt Ryan and David Baron appear below.

With Daxamites already possessing superpowers similar to the Kryptonians, the Eradicator's invasion would be a daunting challenge for the Justice League, even if the team was at full strength. Without the Flash, however, the team may truly be in over their heads.

Robert Venditti, Aaron Lopresti and Matt Ryan's Justice League #41 is on sale Feb. 19 from DC Comics.
