Jurassic Park reopens in June of 2014! The fourth installment in the dino-filled franchise has been assigned a June 13, 2014. release date by Universal Pictures, Deadline reports. That weekend holds some importance to the franchise because it’s the same one that the original Steven Spielberg-directed adaptation of Michael Crichton’s novel debuted back in 1993 (June 11, for the record).
Spielberg returned for the film’s sequel The Lost World: Jurassic Park in 1997, which was itself followed by Joe Johnston’s Jurassic Park 3 in 2001. Spielberg, who’s focusing on his own rewrite for Robopocalypse, has returned as a producer for the fourth film.
In September, producer Kathleen Kennedy said they’re hard at work on making a quality script that answered the question, “Why make another Jurassic Park movie?” The Jurassic Park 4 script was written by Rise of the Planet of the Apes scribes Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver. Fans will see in June of 2014 how the filmmakers answered that question and whether they agree with the answer.
