The secret word for today is "comeback," as comedy powerhouse Judd Apatow is teaming up with Paul Reubens to develop a currently untitled Pee-wee Herman adventure for the big screen. Reubens will co-write the screenplay alongside Inglourious Basterds actor Paul Rust. Apatow is producing, not directing. Though the title remains unknown, the new Pee-wee pic is said to focus on the quirky hero's "gigantic adventure" of a road trip.

"Let's face it, the world needs more Pee-wee Herman," Apatow told Variety of the project. "I am so excited to be working with Paul Reubens — who is an extraordinary and ground-breaking actor and writer. It's so great to watch him return with such relevance."

"There is no one like Judd in our business — he loves comedy with emotion and heart, and he sees what we do as art," Reubens added. "I can't believe I'm getting this opportunity to be working with him."

Apatow and Reubens partnered up after the producer saw the recent "Pee-wee Herman Show" stage revival in California earlier this year. The show is slated to hit New York City for a 10-week stint starting October 26.
