Director Brad Peyton will move from visiting a mysterious island to turning California into one. According to The Hollywood Reporter, he is in talks to make San Andreas 3D for New Line.
Peyton drew interest after making a series of shorts that earned him a gig directing Cats and Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore before tackling Journey 2: The Mysterious Island.
The script for the reported $100 million movie was originally written by the team of Andre Fabrizio and Jeremy Passmore before Allan Loeb took a pass at it. New Line is keeping this one close to the vest, but from the title alone we can presume the plot revolves around California’s San Andreas Fault, complete with destruction and possibility of the fabled separation of the state from the rest of the United States. Considering Peyton’s experience with 3D on Journey 2, this seems like a good fit.
