On his Instagram, director Bryan Singer announced that Josh Helman would reprise his role as young William Stryker in the upcoming "X-Men: Apocalypse" film.

With this latest installment, Styker has appeared in four of the eight movies in the "X-Men" franchise, including "X2," "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," "X-Men: Days of Future Past" and now "X-Men: Apocalypse." The character has been played by Brian Cox and Danny Huston, though Helman will be the only actor to have returned to the role, having played the character in "X-Men: Days of Future Past."

Happy to welcome back Josh Helman who happens to be shooting with fellow Aussie Rose Byrne today. #aussieinvasion #rosebyrne #sydney #joshhelman #adelaide #xmenapocalypse #2016 #xmen #XMen15 A photo posted by Bryan Singer (@bryanjaysinger) on

First appearing in Chris Claremont and Brent Anderson's "X-Men" graphic novel "God Loves, Man Kills," Stryker was a reverend with a military history who led a religious sect that called for the destruction of mutants. His followers would go on to become the Purifiers, a frequent antagonist of the X-Men.

In the films, Stryker is a military man who led the Weapon X program that gave Wolverine his adamantium skeleton. Though he drowns in "X2," stories that take place in the past have enabled the character to return.

Directed by Bryan Singer, "X-Men: Apocalypse" is scheduled for release on May 27, 2016.
