Joker opens in theaters in less than two weeks, but one cinema has decided not to show the Warner Bros. film.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Joker will not be screening at Century Aurora and XD in Aurora, Colorado, the same theater where the Dark Knight Rises shooting took place. The shooting occurred at a midnight screening of the film on Friday, July 12, 2012, and left 12 people dead.

As of Monday night, no showtimes were listed online for Joker, with a theater employee noting that no advanced tickers were available because the movie would not be shown in the theater. Century Aurora and XD has not commented on the matter.

The ban comes as Joker deals with a flurry of criticism leading up to its release, with some claiming the film will encourage violence and terror in an already tumultuous climate. Both director Todd Phillips and star Joaquin Phoenix have dismissed these claims, saying the concerns are unwarranted.

Directed by Todd Phillips, Joker stars Joaquin Phoenix, Robert De Niro, Zazie Beetz, Bill Camp, Frances Conroy, Brett Cullen, Glenn Fleshler, Douglas Hodge, Marc Maron, Josh Pais and Shea Whigham. The film arrives in theaters Oct. 4.
