Johnny Depp will fly from Australia to the United States for surgery on his hand following after suffering an injury while filming "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales."

Disney confirmed the accident to TheWrap, which quotes an insider as saying production is expected to be "minimally impacted."

Directed by Espen Sandberg and Joachim Rønning ("Kon-Tiki"), the fifth installment in the $3.73 billion franchise began filming last month in Queensland, Australia. It's expected to wrap production this summer.

In "Dead Men Tell No Tales," Depp's Capt. Jack Sparrow sets out in search of the legendary Trident of Poseidon after deadly ghost pirates -- led by his old foe Captain Salazar -- escape the Devil's triangle.

Opening July 17, 2017, the film also stars Javier Bardem, Geoffrey Rush, Kaya Scodelario, Brenton Thwaites, Kevin R. McNally, Stephen Graham and Golshifteh Farahani.
