“John Wick” has received the Honest Trailer treatment ahead of the release of it sequel “John Wick: Chapter 2,” which hits theaters at end of this week.

The Honest Trailer, produced by ScreenJunkies, takes the 2014 action film to task for its overly simplistic and brutal plot, but praises its steady cinematography. The video is just one in a long series of Honest Trailers produced by the Screen Junkies, who have also satirized films like “Shrek” and “Willa Wonka & The Chocolate Factory” using the same format.

“John Wick” is an action film that follows the eponymous retired assassin’s quest for vengeance after the son of a local mob boss, Iosef Tarasov (Alfie Allen), steals his car and kills his dog. Wick ruthlessly hunts down Iosef over the course of the film, leaving heaps of bodies in his wake until his thirst for vengeance is sated.

The film’s sequel, “John Wick: Chapter 2,” will see Wick interacting with the international assassin’s guild that is only touched upon in the first film. Wick will have to travel to Rome to defend the guild from takeover and to honor a blood oath, taking on some of the world’s deadliest assassins along the way.

Debuting in theaters February 10, “John Wick: Chapter 2” is directed by Chad Stahelski and stars Keanu Reeves, Common, Laurence Fishburne, Riccardo Scamarcio, Ruby Rose, John Leguizamo and Ian McShane.
