John Boyega has been repping his upcoming movie “Pacific Rim: Uprising” hard on social media, and now he’s graced Instagram fans with a new picture from the set.
In the photo, Boyega appears to be in character as Jake Pentecost, sitting in a rounded doorway of what appears to be a ship, or perhaps even part of his personal Jaeger. It’s hard to tell if Boyega-as-Jake is looking cautiously hopeful or pensive, but whatever’s going on in the scene, there are some heavy emotions on display.
This isn’t the first time Boyega has shared an image from the set. In late 2016, Boyega shared two photos from the set, one showing him in action during filming in Sydney, Australia, and another of him gearing up in a skin-tight black jumpsuit.
Starting the morning In a skin tight black bag! Ready to work but also ready to bloody sleep. Alarm woke me up 5:30am and I hated it this morning. That stupid dinging sounds like electronic nagging! I set the alarm with so much confidence but then hated myself when it rang out! It is Friday here in Sydney so cheers to the weekend and hope you all had a productive week. ??✊? #PacificRimUprising
He’s also recently shared artwork featuring one of the film’s mechs, as well as another moody image of him on set, bathed in dark blue lighting.
The sequel, originally called “Pacific Rim: Maelstrom,” is believed to be set years after the events of the 2013, with Boyega cast as Jaeger pilot Jake Pentecost, the son of Idris Elba’s character Stacker Pentecost. The “Star Wars” veteran is joined by Scott Eastwood, Cailee Spaeny, Jing Tian, Wesley Wong, Zhang Jin, Lily Ji, Chen Zitong, Lan Yingying and Qian Yong Chen.
Directed by Steven S. DeKnight (“Spartacus,” “Daredevil”), “Pacific Rim: Uprising” opens Feb. 23, 2018.
