Joel Kinnaman, who only just confirmed he'll play Rick Flagg in Warner Bros.' "Suicide Squad," has begun filming the indie thriller "Backcountry."

According to TheWrap, he plays Elliot Baker, a father who hopes to rekindle his relationship with his sons after his ex-wife Karen (Rachelle LeFevre) and her new husband leave them with him to go on vacation. When a snowstorm traps them in a deserted cabin, his sons Bradley (Tom Holland) and Caleb (Percy Hynes-White) learn how much they mean to him.

BAFTA winner Rob Connolly will direct the project, which is shooting in Ontario, Canada. Production is scheduled to wrap on March 28, leaving little time before Kinnaman has to head to Toronto, where "Suicide Squad" begins filming in April.
