Brussels, Belgium: Creators Joe Jusko and Michael Golden are being honored these next ten days as special guests of the Belgian Government, taking part in a multi-faceted artistic cross-cultural mission this Spring!
The tour begins May 4th, extending until the middle of the month, with events scheduled throughout. In this unique to bring the artistic talents and ideals of the two countries together, The two US based artists will be making guest appearances at book stores and galleries throughout Belgium, Amsterdam and Paris, while selling original art, sketching, meeting with European artists, and promoting the comic sequential art and the graphic novel art forms in general.
Its no wonder why the Belgian coordinators sought out these two giants in their field as stellar examples of some of the best that American comics has to offer. Afterall, both artists are already well respected both domestically and abroad.
Michael Golden, recently accepted into the Society of Illustrators in Manhattan is the co-creator of X-Men’s Rogue, as well as the artistic driving force behind “The ‘Nam,” “Spartan X,” “Buck O’Hare,” and the new “Iron Man” and “Heroes for Hire” covers from Marvel Comics and “Battlestar” cover for Dynamic Forces. His work is being collected and studied in the upcoming books: “Excess: The Art of Michael Golden” from Vanguard Productions, “Heroes and Villains” from Image Comics/Eva Ink; and “Modern Masters: Michael Golden” from TwoMorrows publishing. In addition, he’ll also be featured on two upcoming DVD’s “Modern Masters in the Studio with Michael Golden,” and the “Creator Chronicles” from Woodcrest Productions and Eva Ink.
Joe Jusko is a renowned comic and fantasy artist/painter, widely known in the comic scene for his miraculous covers and trading cards. He is the talent behind the gorgeous and wildly popular fist series (1992) of Marvel Masterpiece card-sets and the immensely detailed “Joe Jusko does Edgar Rice Boroughs” 1994 card-set, and is featured in Conan and Vampirella card sets as well. His work has graced the covers of Wizard Magazine and Heavy Metal Magazine, and spans such iconic characters as Vampirella, the Punisher, Conan, Shi, Nick Fury, Black Panther, Heavy Metal Magazine, Marvel Double shot, Crimson, 21 down, and many more. As part of the cross-cultural exchange, the European coordinators will also be working with Renee Witterstaetter of Eva Ink Publishing to bring over several exhibitions of Belgian artists to the United States within the next year.
“We are very much looking forward to introducing the work of some of the this countries amazing artists at select galleries in Manhattan,” said Witterstaetter. ” This will be a unique opportunity to obtain insight into these wonderful works and talents.”
