Joe Hill & Gabriel Rodriguez Join Forces for IDW’s “Tales from the Darkside” Miniseries

The Eisner-winning “Locke & Key” creators Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez are back in the horror game with a new anthology series based on the television show “Tales from the Dark Side,” as first reported by USA Today.

Part of IDW Publishing‘s ComicsPro announcements, “Tales from the Dark Side” will run for four issues and provide a contemporary update of the 1983 television series of the same name. The Eisner Award-winning team hopes to “unfold a cohesive universe made up of each individual issue” while using a meta approach to the material. “The Wraith” artist Charles P. Wilson III will also contribute variant covers for the series.

“This is the show that could’ve been,” Hill said in a statement. “The original ‘Tales from the Darkside’ was a fun, bleak little spin on the ‘Twilight Zone’ style anthology. My idea is to give readers a little more. Every story is meant to stand alone, but gradually, you will come to see how they all connect, to tell a single larger story.”

“Where Locke & Key was fundamentally epic, ‘Tales from the Darkside’ is like an unexpected exploration trip,” Rodriguez told USA Today. “And for this trip to be interesting and worthy, the key is to be able to build, in a very short space, appealing, flawed, believable characters to relate to and walk along with in this dark, twisted and fun exploration of the unknown.”

“Tales from the Dark Side” is scheduled to debut in June.
