Actors, directors and producers spill the beans about big Hollywood projects all the time. Earlier this week the culprit was Cobie Smulders, the actress who plays S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Maria Hill in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The victim? The forthcoming "Avengers: Infinity War."

Smulders appeared on the late night talk show "Jimmy Kimmel Live," where, during a scripted segment, she spilled a can of baked beans all over a promotional placeholder poster for the upcoming Marvel superhero flick "Avengers: Infinity War." The skit was meant to poke fun at the entertainment news industry and its penchant for hyperbole.

Kimmel instructed Smulders to recite the phrase "and it was everything" once she had poured the contents of the can onto the poster, positing that the moment would quickly be picked up by news outlets adopting the exaggerated headline "Cobie Smulders Spills the Beans on Avengers: Infinity War and it was Everything."

Unfortunately for comic book fans eager to learn more about the film that is rumored to center around Thanos' genocidal endgame and mark a major reboot for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, no new information about the film actually came from the interview. It's also unknown whether or not Smulders will appear in the film, either; Maria Hill was last seen in 2015's "Avengers: Age of Ultron."

"Avengers: Infinity War" is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo. The film is currently slated to debut in theaters on May 4, 2018.
