“Jim Demonakos Gets Unshelved (Or is it the Other Way Around?)

Official Press Release

SEATTLE, WA – Overdue Media, publisher of the
popular daily comic strip Unshelved, has hired Jim Demonakos as its
Senior Business Strategist.

Jim Demonakos brings a variety of experiences to this newly created
position. Most recently he was Public Relations and Marketing
Coordinator for Image Comics, a major publisher of comics and graphic
novels. Demonakos is also organizer of Seattle’s immensely successful
Emerald City ComiCon, and owner of the Comic Stop chain of comic book
stores in the Seattle area.

“I’m very excited to be coming on board with Unshelved,” Demonakos
said. “I love its dry wit and spot-on observations about people,
books, and retail environments. The characters and the library setting
have a very broad appeal, and I look forward to helping tap into its
mainstream potential.”

Unshelved’s creators Bill Barnes and Gene Ambaum are excited about
their new hire.

“Jim brings a welcome focus on business development and operations,”
says Barnes. “We will be free to concentrate on making Unshelved the
best comic strip it can be.”

“We’re thrilled to have Jim join the Unshelved family,” says Ambaum,
“He has a lot of great ideas and we can’t wait for him to put in to
action things we’ve been talking about for months or even years.”

Created by librarian Gene Ambaum and cartoonist Bill Barnes, the strip
went live in 2002 and quickly gained a cult following among library
workers. Unshelved’s audience continues to grow as more and more
people discover the exploits of a sarcastic public librarian named
Dewey. Today over 35,000 readers enjoy the strip every day at, via free email delivery, and by RSS feed. Unshelved is
a registered trademark of Overdue Media LLC.
