WARNING: The following article contains major spoilers for “The Other Side,” tonight’s episode of AMC’s “The Walking Dead,” which as of publication hasn’t yet aired on the West Coast, as well as the Image Comics series.

One of the most refreshing things about "The Walking Dead" is its treatment of its characters' sexuality. Regardless of someone's sexual preference, the writers have never made a big deal about it. It's just part of who they are. In the comic, Jesus is a character who happens to be gay, just as Rick is a character who happens to be straight.

In tonight's episode, "The Other Side," the AMC series reveals this information with the same nonchalance as on the page. While talking to Maggie, Jesus mentions how he's had boyfriends in the past. Maggie smiles at him, and the conversation continues. There's no dramatic music, no big coming-out moment -- just two friends sharing more information about their lives.

Although Tom Payne has previously stated that Jesus is gay on the show, just like in the comic, this is the first time the series has made any mention of his sexuality. Stay tuned for more on this and the rest of the episode in tonight's full recap and review.
