Screenwriter Jon Spaihts apparently really, really likes outer space. The writer seems in no hurry to leave the genre anytime soon as Variety reports that he has sold a space-based adventure pitch to producer Jerry Bruckheimer.
Spaihts previously penned a number of sci-fi scripts that first brought him to the attention of key Hollywood players, including Shadow 19 and Passengers — two now-undeveloped Keanu Reeves movie projects. However, the writer really made a name for himself when he came on board to write the prequel film to the Alien franchise, Prometheus, directed by Ridley Scott.
In 2010, Bruckheimer became involved with Spaihts when he hired him to adapt the graphic novel World War Robot, and now their relationship continues with the development of this new project, presumably under Bruckheimer’s Disney banner. Details for the story remain under wraps.
