Jeremy Renner has both good news and bad news for Hawkeye and Black Widow fans. While the actor says that a film featuring the two skilled fighters taking down villains together "makes sense," he doesn't see it happening anytime soon.

“I always thought it would make sense early on to do a Hawkeye/Widow movie because they’re quite similar," he told British newspaper Metro, according to The Edmonton Sun. "They don’t have powers, have high skill sets and have history together. But I don’t think there are any discussions about that happening. I’d love to do it though.”

Renner has played Hawkeye in both "Avengers" films and "Captain America: Civil War" opposite Scarlett Johannson's Black Widow. Neither character has received their own solo film thus far, despite 48 percent of fans in a USA Today/Fandango poll saying they would like to see Black Widow helm a movie (10 percent said they would like to see Hawkeye in his own solo film).

Marvel already has a full slate of upcoming films with no Black Widow or Hawkeye solo film on the list. In 2017, the studio plans to release "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" (May 5), "Spider-Man: Homecoming" (July 7) and "Thor: Ragnarok" (November 3), while 2018 will see "Black Panther" (February 16), "Avengers: Infinity War" (May 4) and "Ant-Man & The Wasp" (July 6). "Captain Marvel" (March 8) and an untitled fourth "Avengers" film (May 3) are set for 2019.

Still, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said that the company wants to make a Black Widow film in the future, something which Renner's Hawkeye could potentially make an appearance in.

"Of the characters that you’ve just mentioned I would say certainly the one creatively and emotionally that we are most committing to doing is Black Widow," he said in a Q&A session with Deadline. "We think she’s an amazing character. We think Scarlett Johansson’s portrayal of her is amazing. She’s a lead Avenger and has amazing stories in her own right to tell that we think would be fun to turn into a standalone franchise."

In the Metro interview, Renner also offered a bit of information on the upcoming "Avengers" films, which both he and Johannson are likely to appear in. He said that, unlike the previous movies, which shot in London, this set will film in Atlanta.

“We’ve shot in London but it’s hard for all of us to be away from our families so we’re doing the next two back-to-back in Atlanta," he said.

“We’ve become great friends," he added about the series' ensemble cast. "I see Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr. and Scarlett Johansson quite a lot. Chris Hemsworth has been so busy I haven’t hung out with him for a while and Elizabeth Olsen is a neighbor, so I see her quite often.”
