Academy Award winner Jeff Bridges has signed on to star in Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures’ adaptation of The Last Apprentice, Just Jared reports.
Now called The Seventh Son, the movie is based on Joseph Delaney’s bestselling young-adult fantasy about a boy with second sight who’s trained by the County Spook, whose job it is fight ghosts, witches and creatures of the night.
Bridges will portray John Gregory, the prolific and mysterious 18th-century Spook who takes the gifted young Tom Ward as his apprentice. As we reported last week, the studio has made offers to I Am Number Four‘s Alex Pettyfer to star as Tom, and Oscar-nominated actress Jennifer Lawrence (Winter’s Bone, X-Men: First Class) to play a suspected witch.
Sergey Bodrov (Nomad, Mongol: The Rise of Genghis Khan) is set to direct.
