Metal: DC Reveals Fabok’s First Dark Knights Covers

Look out, Batman – the Dark Knights are coming!

The Justice League is inching ever closer to its first encounter with the evil Batmen of the Dark Multiverse, but before they clash, DC Comics has released artist Jason Fabok’s covers for two of the Dark Nights: Metal one-shots. First, Fabok and colorist Dean White bring the Flash-inspired Dark Knight to furious life with the cover to Batman: The Red Death #1, which will be written by Joshua Williamson with art by Carmine Di Giandomenico.

Next, we have Fabok and colorist Brad Anderson’s cover for Batman: The Murder Machine #1, which will be written by Frank Tieri and illustrated by Ricardo Federici. The cover is an obvious homage to the first appearance of classic Justice League villain Starro, though the heroes are being mowed down by a Computu-esque robot-tank rather than a giant starfish.

Fabok has also released his uncolored versions of the covers, offering a peak behind the curtain of his creative process.

While readers first learned about The Murder Machine, The Red Death, The Devastator, The Merciless, The Drowned, The Batman Who Laughs and The Dawnbreaker in mid-June, Batman and the rest of the Justice League have yet to discover their existence. But that won’t last long, as DC’s heroes are scheduled to do battles with the denizens of the Dark Multiverse in a series of one-shots arriving in September and November. Each of the Dark Nights: Metal tie-ins will feature “a different, corrupted version of Batman spawned from the Dark Multiverse to wreak havoc on Earth.”
