When you think of cable networks creating supernatural dramas, WE tv probably isn't the first one to pop into your head. But Variety reports that won't be the case for much longer, as the female-oriented cable channel moves forward with a new series called South of Hell.

Produced by Jason Blum's Blumhouse Television, the series sounds like a mix of Buffy and Supernatural, as it follows the adventures of a Savannah, Georgia-based demon hunter named Maria Abascal "whose power comes from within." Eli Roth (Hostel, The Green Inferno) has been tapped to direct the pilot

"As WE tv moves firmly into scripted programming, we are committed to presenting distinctive and engaging stories to today’s savvy TV audience,” WE tv president Marc Juris said. "That is certainly the case with South of Hell, a dramatic thriller that introduces viewers to an unforgettable character, supernatural themes and the battle between good and evil."

South of Hell will kick off with an eight-episode season starting sometime in 2015.
