Jared Padalecki To Dub U.S. Release Of Supernatural Anime

Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles will dub the voices of Sam and Dean Winchester for the U.S. release of Supernatural: The Animation, the upcoming anime adaptation of the cult-hit series, Zap2it reports.

There’s a catch, though: Although Padalecki has signed on to dub all 22 episodes, Warner Bros. Japan says Ackles will only voice his character Dean in the final two. The three-volume first season will be released in Japan on DVD and Blu-ray beginning on Feb. 23. No date has been given for the English-language version.

Announced in June, Supernatural: The Animation is produced by Madhouse, the acclaimed studio behind Death Note, Paprika and segments of Batman: Gotham Knight. The 22 episodes will cover the first season of the live-action series, remaking some episodes while also introducing original stories.

Supernatural creator Eric Kripke is credited as creator of the anime, which is co-directed by Shigeyuki Miya (Lupin III: Green vs Red, Aoi Bungaku Series) and Atsuko Ishizuka (Aoi Bungaku Series).
