After a three-year hiatus, it looks like the cartoon band Gorillaz will be swinging back soon.

On Friday, Gorillaz' co-creator and Tank Girl artist Jamie Hewlett posted two new pieces of art to Instagram featuring band members Noodle and Murdoc, and followed up on a comment in one of the posts, confirming that: "Yes Gorillaz Returns."

No official date has been announced for Murdoc, Noodle, 2D and Russell's return, but the new art suggests that Hewlett and Damon Albarn have worked past the rift that put the band on hiatus since 2012.

Both Gorillaz creators have kept busy since then, with Albarn, the ex-Blur frontman, working on side projects and solo work, and Hewlett returning to his comic book creation Tank Girl, along writer/co-creator Alan Martin, for 21st Century Tank Girl, also featuring the art of Philip Bond, Jim Mahfood and others.
