The newly released episode synopsis reveals Guardian will arrive on the scene to help a weakened Supergirl, whose power has been drained by an alien parasite. As we’ve seen in an earlier promotional image, this Guardian will retain a bit of his original comic book look, complete with his signature shield -- although his costume has been given a slight color change. Here's the episode summary:

THE GUARDIAN DEBUTS IN NATIONAL CITY –The Guardian debuts to lend a hand after a parasite alien drains Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) of her power. Mon-El (Chris Wood) considers a less than desirable new career which then leads him to contemplate his motives. Alex (Chyler Leigh) struggles with a new reality. Andrew Kreisberg and Caitlin Parris wrote the script based on the story by Greg Beranti. The episode was directed by Larry Teng (#206). Original Airdate 11/14/2016.

Introduced in 1942 by Jack Kirby and Joe Simon, Guardian resembled their earlier creation Captain America in that he possessed no superpowers and instead relied upon an indestructible shield. The characters alter ego was originally Jim Harper, a police officer who was tired of seeing criminals evade justice.

Airing Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW, “Supergirl” also Melissa Benoist, David Harewood, Chyler Leigh and Jeremy Jordan.
