While entertainment websites remained focused on who could play Star-Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy -- Zachary Levi? Joseph Gordon-Levitt? Michael Rosenbaum? -- an unlikely candidate may have slipped into the role of the sword-wielding Gamora, the most dangerous woman in the world.

OK, probably not, but the actress "actress" does have an in with writer/director James Gunn: She is, after all, his girlfriend.

Still, Gunn wouldn't allow blogger and occasional model Melissa Stetten read for the part, so she's taken matters into her own hands by releasing an audition tape that demonstrates both her range and her familiarity with the source material: "You know what, Rocket Raccoon, I've had enough of your bullshit. Enough!" "Treebeard ... What is your name? What's the guy's name? Uh ... Tree-guy! Groot! Fuck you, Groot!"

Gunn, however, doesn't appear to have been won over by the video. "Oh boy," he wrote on Twitter. "I’m not sure about @MelissaStetten’s acting or dialogue but the fight coordination is awesome."

I'm not sure Stetten will be called in for a reading, but someone at Marvel should get in touch with the dog; he made a terrific Rocket Raccoon.

Guardians of the Galaxy opens Aug. 1, 2014.
