As James Gunn finishes up work on "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2," he's also getting nostalgic for his first foray into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The original "Guardians of the Galaxy" film, which became a surprise hit in 2014, featured a cast of characters that had never seen widespread or mainstream exposure. The film was also Gunn's biggest project to date as he made the jump from indie films like "Super" and "Slither" to a major Marvel production. And in order to get that job, he had to really sell Marvel on his ideas.

While moving recently, Gunn came across the presentation packet he originally worked up for the first "Guardians" film. Gunn shared a page from it on Facebook, a page that included part of his shot list for the film's opening sequence on Morag. You can check it out below.

The highly anticipated sequel to "Guardians of the Galaxy" is on the way. We just saw the first trailer for the film, and Gunn has even teased a bit about the upcoming soundtrack.

Directed by Gunn and starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Kurt Russell, Sylvester Stallone and many, many others, “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” hits theaters on May 5, 2017.
