Actor Nathan Fillion excited fans last night when he released a photo showing him dressed in Conan the Barbarian-like attire. The star of "Firefly" claimed the image came "from a scene you won't see in 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.'" However, it turns out the reason audiences won't see this scene is that it never existed. James Gunn -- the movie's director -- has confirmed that Fillion's post was just a joke."For the record, that was never a scene in the movie - that's simply @NathanFillion clowning around on set," Gunn wrote in response to a question about how he could cut Fillion from the film

After the image's release, some fans speculated that Fillion could be playing Simon Williams, also known as Wonder Man. In the comics, Williams is a superhero and actor. One of the character's most famous roles is as Arkon, who bears some resemblance to Conan. While Gunn's tweets did confirm that Fillion wouldn't wouldn't appear in the film, they did reveal that fans weren't entirely off-base.

"@NathanFillion was Simon Williams in some movie POSTERS in a scene cut from the movie. It was a way to have fun with one of my best pals," Gunn wrote. The 46-year-old director also confirmed that, in that photo, Fillion was playing Williams as Arkon.

While the news of Fillion's cut and non-existent appearances will be disappointing for some, Gunn didn't rule out the possibility of Fillion playing Wonder Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. "I think we'll have to wait and see (and I love Wonder Man also, and @NathanFillion.)"

"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" picks up just after the events of the first film. The second installment will follow the Guardians as they struggle to keep their group together while helping Peter Quill learn about his true parentage. Early reactions to the film have been tremendously positive.
