Although Marvel’s Hall H presentation has become a staple at Comic-Con International, it appears the studio may skip San Diego this summer.
Asked over the weekend on his Facebook page whether he’d be attending the convention in July, “Guardians of the Galaxy” director James Gunn replied, “I’m not sure. Marvel isn’t going so I’m not sure I will either.”
While that hasn’t been confirmed by Marvel Studios, it should be noted that D23 Expo, the biennial Disney fan event, will be held Aug. 14-16 at the Anaheim Convention Center, in Anaheim, California, a little more than a month after Comic-Con.
CBR News has reached out to Marvel Studios for comment and will update when we receive a response.
With “Avengers: Age of Ultron” premiering May 1, and “Ant-Man” opening July 17 (just days after Comic-Con ends), there’s nothing for Marvel Studios to promote on the big screen until “Captain America: Civil War” in May 2016. That said, there are certainly Marvel Television projects — likely new seasons of “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D” and “Marvel’s Agent Carter,” and “AKA Jessica Jones,” for starters — but they could just as easily be showcased in Anaheim.
