Pre-production on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is moving along, and director James Gunn proved it by sharing a photo showing stacks of completed storyboards for the film."More #Vol3 storyboards complete," Gunn tweeted on Friday, with a photo of three inches-high stacks of index card-sized storyboards. "One huge sequence, one middling, and one small. (I can’t wait for you guys to see this big one!)"RELATED: James Gunn Shoots Down Rumors of a Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Delay

Gunn clarified in a later tweet that the individual storyboards were in fact composed on index cards, with each one comprising a single shot. The photo did not reveal the context of any specific scenes.

The director had revealed in June he had already begun composing storyboards for the movie.

Filming for Vol. 3 reportedly begins in November. Shooting was originally scheduled to begin in 2019, but Gunn was dismissed from the film before eventually being reinstated. In between, Gunn found time to write and direct The Suicide Squad for Warner Bros., which was released last month.

The film is expected to be the last in the franchise, although the fate of its characters remains unknown at this point, meaning at least some of them could pop up in future Marvel Studios projects.

The movie is scheduled to be released in 2023, but fans won't have to wait that long to see the characters again. The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special is planned to air on Disney+ in December, and the characters will be appearing in the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder.

Written and directed by James Gunn, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Karen Gillan, Sean Gunn and Elizabeth Debicki. The film arrives in theaters May 5, 2023.
