There are many instances where the announcement of toy lines for upcoming comic book films can reveal story plots or debuting characters. This often happens with LEGO sets that reveal key information about action sequences, like the reveal that Giant-Man would appear in "Captain America: Civil War." This, however, was not the case when the current Marvel Legends action figure line for "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" included cosmic heroes Adam Warlock and Darkhawk. Fans began to speculate that this meant the two would feature in the sequel, but director James Gunn stomped out those rumors in a recent Facebook Live Q&A.

"I think it was not very well thought out because I'm getting questions about. 'Is Darkhawk in the movie because of the Marvel Legends figure? Is Adam Warlock in the movie because of the Marvel Legends figures?'" Gunn said about the two heroes making an appearance in the sequel. He continued: "All you need to do is look at the packaging, you guys. On the packaging cover, it says 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2' on the figures that are from the movie and it doesn't say Vol. 2 on the other figures. So that should tell you what's from the movie and what's not."

So that should put an end to the speculation circling Adam Warlock and Darkhawk making a cameo in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2." After Warlock's cocoon was shown in the background of the Collector's trophy room in the first "Guardians" film, many believed it would lead to him being added to the large cast. For now, fans will just have to wait a little longer for "Him" to join the cast of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Opening May 5, 2017, “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” is directed by James Gunn and stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Glenn Close, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki and Kurt Russell.
