As if Lifetime's collaboration with Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig on "A Deadly Adoption" wasn't strange enough, the cable channel is now teaming with James Franco for a remake of "Mother, May I Sleep With Danger?"

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Franco will executive produce the TV movie, which will be released to mark the 20th anniversary of the original.

An adaptation of the novel by Claire R. Jacobs, the 1996 movie starred Tori Spelling as a young woman who seemingly finds the boyfriend of her dreams (Ivan Sergei), only to discover his obsessive nature places her in jeopardy. The film was intended to be released in theaters, but it landed on NBC after it failed to secure a distributor.
