Director James Cameron has given his seal of approval to "Terminator Genisys," which remixes the elements of his 1984 film.

"I feel like the franchise has been reinvigorated, like this is a renaissance," he says in a new featurette. "[...] In the new film, which I think in my mind of as the third film, we see Arnold take the character even farther."

In "Genisys," resistance leader John Connor (Jason Clarke) sending loyal soldier Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney) from the post-apocalyptic future back to 1984 to save Connor’s mother Sarah (Emilia Clarke) from a Terminator programmed to kill her.

Directed by Alan Taylor, the film also stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, Byung-Hun Lee, Matt Smith and J.K. Simmons. "Terminator Genisys" opens July 1.
