While Jared Leto has caught a lot of intention for his method-acting antics on the set of "Suicide Squad," actor Jai Courtney deserves some credit too. As revealed in a recent interview, Courtney's preparation for the role involved taking hallucinogenic magic mushrooms and putting cigarettes out on his arm.

Reflecting on the night he first got into character, the Captain Boomerang actor explained to Batman News, "That night I happened to eat some mushrooms...and I did self-inflict some burns."

Courtney also revealed that Ayer personally -- and unexpectedly -- shaved his head, without asking. "I turned up to discuss my look, expecting we'd have a long discussion and slowly he refine it...David [Ayer] just walked right in, picked up some clippers and started shearing chunks of hair off my head, Eventually he said, 'You look like bad news.' Then he left."

Also in "Suicide Squad" news, Warner Bros. released a new featurette, called "Good to be Bad," that goes behind the scenes of the film's unique practical effects and impressive stunts.

Plus, IMAX has unveiled the following "Countdown to Suicide Squad" video that hypes the upcoming release of the film in the prestige format.

"Suicide Squad," based on the DC Comics team and starring Jared Leto as the Joker, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Will Smith as Deadshot, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, Karen Fukuhara as Katana, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, Jay Hernandez as El Diablo and Adam Beach as Slipknot, is scheduled for release on Aug. 5, 2016.
