For a guy who, at one point, was said to be retiring from big action projects after his current project CZ12, Jackie Chan sure has a lot on his plate. In addition to a new buddy action/comedy in the works called Skip Tracer, a musical based on his childhood called I Am Jackie Chan and Police Story 2013, Chan told Yahoo he's signed on for The Expendables 3.

"Sly had invited me to be in Expendables 2 but I was too busy filming CZ12 and couldn't make a commitment to the film," Chan said. "But he did extend his invitation to the third movie, which I agreed on the condition that I will be appearing as more than just a minor role with a few scenes." He added that, when talking to screenwriter and star Sylvester Stallone, he suggested the idea of a "buddy-buddy" set-up with the two action superstars, which Stallone took into account while re-writing the script.

As of now, Chan is the first new cast member to officially join the third installment in the Expendables franchise, which has earned a combined, worldwide $575 million for LionsGate. Other names like Nic Cage, Clint Eastwood and Harrison Ford have been tossed out there for potential players in the third movie, which will most likely also feature series stars Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Terry Crews and Randy Couture. The Expendables 3 is expected to debut in 2014.
