"iZombie" will live on. The Hollywood Reporter has word that The CW has renewed the DC Comics/Vertigo-based series for a second season. What's not yet known is when the second season will debut -- the first season premiered midseason, specifically this past March -- or how many episodes were ordered with the renewal. The first season is set for 10 episodes, scheduled to wrap on May 19.

Much of The CW's existing lineup had already been renewed, including "Arrow," "The Flash," "The 100," "Supernatural" and "The Vampire Diaries." THR reports an average 1.9 million viewers for "iZombie," which airs following "The Flash" on Tuesday nights.

Based on a Vertigo series from writer Chris Roberson and artist Mike Allred, "iZombie" was adapted to TV by "Veronica Mars" creator Rob Thomas and his frequent collaborator Diane Ruggiero. The show stars Rose McIver as Olivia "Liv" Moore, an intelligent zombie who eats human brains of murder victims -- doing so helps her access key memories -- to help solve crimes.

"iZombie" airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on The CW.
